FW14 Couture WINTER GARDEN
Like a pastoral symphony of blossoming girls in the shade of an autumn night, a garden comes alive as a succession of girls -part woman, part flower- appear in the deepening dusk. Impeccable, architectural silhouettes, soft, sculptural organza layers and saturated hues echo the outlines and textures of dew-speckled bagatelle roses, camellias, calla lilies, tulips, gardenias, magnolias and peonies. This is quite a garden.
Dice Kayek's debut couture collection showcases their masterly command of form, colour and texture. Pleated organzas create the illusion of transparency, while supple duchesse satin is twisted and moulded to resemble petals, stamens and calyxes. Mirror effects, a myriad pearls and sparkling hand-blown glass beads evoke droplets of rain.
Colours include pansy-blue; blue-bell, poppy-red; lily-white, mimosa-yellow and black-calla. At once ethereal and grounded, these floral tributes meet their match in a woman both modern and poetic.
